Get a tax credit

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act) signed into law on February 17, 2009, includes a 30% consumer tax credit (up to $1,500) for the purchase of 75%-efficient bio-mass burning stoves (i.e. wood stoves and pellet stoves) and can be used towards the stove, venting, hearth pads and installation costs. This energy saving taxing credit has been extended through the 2013 tax year.

This credit can be applied to existing principal residences and is effective immediately, retroactive to any Biomass heating unit purchased since January 1, 2009. For additional tax information please visit the IRS website.

Scott's Chimney Service can install a wood or pellet burning stove for you. There are many brands and models available. Scott's Chimney Service installs most major brands including Napoleon and Lopi.

Wood Stoves and Stove Inserts provide more heat and efficiency than an open fireplace. With flue costs soaring these types of appliances are a great idea, especially for a cold room or basement. An inspection of the entire chimney system is required.

Biomass Stove Tax Credit

Tax credits are powerful incentives for potentially hesitant consumers to invest in new biomass-fueled freestanding stoves and energy conservation technology. For nearly a decade, HPBA has worked in Washington, D.C. to maintain a tax credit for purchasers of new biomass stoves so that communities and individuals can reap the financial and environmental benefits that newer, more efficient technology provides. Visit the HPBA Website for more information.
